hear or not to hear

tonight i saw a fab documentary on people who are deaf. the story is of a couple who have been deaf all of their lives, and decide at the very late age of 65+ , to embark on cochlear implant surgery. this trip into what they believe they want ends with them going back to what they know and feel comfortable with. i cant help but think ...at times we all do the same thing. wanting and needing becomes one selfish act often actionable to a detriment. the problem lies in that we are not always right in our assumptions that the grass is greener on the other side.

Yep - couldn't agree with you more.
One always wants what they don't have. Sometimes being satisfied with what you have isn't such a bad thing after all.

Agree: "being satisfied with what you have isn't such a bad thing after all". However, having the strength and curiosity to try someting different and hard can help us to grow. the lesson to be learnt. Judging ourselves by the 'greener grass' should be a catalyst, not a base line.
