winters sleep

wow. winter in vancouver

this morning i went for a long walk, 2.5 hours. yes i should have been at home doing stuff but when the day was this brilliant, how could i.
i will put another pic up of a very cool plant in winters slumber.
today, how could anyone be anything but joyously happy!
smiles were free today and i felt thankful to be healthy, happy and content.
weren't you?

chocolate brown sheets

her back lean and strong..cradled nicely into my chest.

i trace lines down her body.... my fingers finding all the small spaces.
spent; slumber catches her quickly...she breathes deeply...i lie still and listen for her heart.
perpetual quiet fills the space between us.
slipping in silence from the place of fulfilled need, she stirs and cloaks herself into the warmth of singular sleep space.

taking my leave,i kiss her face gently. twice....i am charmed by the girl wrapped in chocolate brown sheets

emillie asks of compromise and then recalls the nights of late arrivals and early departure as per her request..and is aware that she gave alot for not.

benazir bhutto - rip age 54

long live those who never give up and are willing to risk all for what they believe is right.

tick tock

rocketing toward the turn of the calendar page we stop and reflect on what has been .we never truly examine time until it has past. we hardly stop the moments when they occur. we should, we should freeze the image and the feelings to really own them. swallow the events.

my past year has been one of great happiness and great loss. regrets? nah, wishes ? yeah. revelations;many. love? i think yes. good health? OMG i am so blessed. good fortune? this is not about money,so indeed.

time propels me forward and the sense of renewal permeates my heart. i put my emotional running shoes on and sprint towards the next year

who knew?

while taking a very early xmas morning walk in search of a starbucks, i walked down a street i have often driven, but paid no attention to the shops that line it. the use is mixed with commercial and apartment towers. when one walks one sees thing of wonder and details mostly missed when viewing the world through a windscreen. who knew the gingerbread man lived in my hood? happy ho ho indeed!

mistletoe

well it is that time of year where sneaking kisses is permitted and at times welcomed.
so everyone knows the rules: each kiss requires removal of a berry, once all berries are gone..there will be more no more kisses!
so grab that sweet thing you really want to kiss fast...

there is a certain feisty italian beauty who i'd like to kiss over and over...she is busy - so i'll send her my kisses virtually

enjoy the holidays and remember the reason for the season; joy and good will to all!

never knowing

* in the moment between wake and slumber when all that fills your head belongs solely to you. when desires selfishly owned deeply in your heart are kept real by the feelings you are afraid to acknowledge. where memories create need and wanting. where a simple connection of hands speaks more than words can convey. i wonder, endlessly wonder ...what will it take for you to stop risking never knowing*

.... then the light started to dim....

it was a bright idea for its time, but after more than a century of lighting up our homes it will soon be lights out for the "Edison" bulb.
they will no longer be producing the incandescent bulb effect 2012! the only bulbs available will be those unforgiving florescent safeway lighting or the LED.
that means, for many of us, the last half of our lives living in unflattering lighting! although retailers will be banned from selling them in north america, homeowners and businesses will be permitted to use them.
i am going to start stashing them soon. i believe there will be quite the blackmarket for such lighting. i can tell you this much ....my home will be forever bathed in the soft hues of "easy white", calm white" , "cool white" and even the occasional "amber" shadow. especially in the bathroom!

the high side of toronto

okay, confession...i am in love the beds at the marriott! big fluffy down pillows and comforters. crawling in to fresh starched 600 thread count sheets....yum!
and on a night like tonight..room service, served direct to the place you want to have dinner...on the big bed, linen, hot bath, soft robe and tonight, pan-seared halibut with garlic spinach, lemon smashed red potatoes in a saffron caper fennel cream reduction. chased with a glass of chardonnay. and , well the outside weather becomes just that..outside. and of course 70 channels and full control of the remote is not a bad side dish

toronto

jeepers. i do like my job. really;it is just that i dont like to be in toronto in the winter. look at the streets, covered in snow...man was not meant to naivigate such challanges. and women do not dress to navigate such weather. i mean, jeepers, slush up the back of my skirt and tights is so not cool by me. now add in the ill sholveled walkways, running nose from the cold and a red face from the wind. winter, such as this, is so unattractve to us girls.

thank god my weekend in vancouver has held me over...thanks to the italian beauty- nice to have her close again.

outta here in T-minus three days :)

OMG it has happened...

last summer i was over at am's house...her reading glasses were on the table, i picked them up and looked at my blackberry and was surprised at how clear the print was. i quickly went into the settings and increased the font- disaster averted.

last month, i complained that screen on my laptop at work was old and the words were difficult to read due to the age and roadtrips it had been on. i received a new wide screen hp- disaster averted.

two weeks ago while attempting to read " khaled hosseini , a thousand splendid suns" at night, i found my arms extending away from me in order to bring the words in clear. fuh, no more room to run on this one.

with head hung low and slow plotted steps...i left the house in search of my first readers. i live in a neighbourhood filled with "olds" so via a quick walk i found a local eye glass shop and bought a pair of readers. who knew there were so many styles and price points.

i am so depressed. combine that with the night sweats of late and i think i may need to acquiesce and welcome in mid life. no worries tho - i never wanted a corvette.

its coming on christmas...

well, its true, i am a geek of sorts....i put christmas lights on the jeep. why? cause it makes strangers smile at me and makes kids give me thumbs up as i sit at traffic lights.

my way of spreading a wee bit of TB joy. :)

last request

am tapped into this guy right now.

portland

just spent the weekend in portland oregon, what a fun time.
i got the full royal tour. it was awesome! there is a great bunch of gals down there and they treated me so kind and were so welcoming.

friday day, off to the local outdoors ...things to see, state parks and like...my personal tour guide lk has grown up in the area so took me to some great spots like the falls and crown point. multnomah falls is magnificent and memorable. it is a 611-foot-tall roaring, awe-inspiring cascade of icy water, lets you experience the power and beauty of nature up close and with ease. we had a great dinner there.

friday nite..funny times...it was a "ugly holiday sweater pub crawl" so we all went to the goodwill on friday and picked out some fabulous sweaters...the more bling the better....basically the louder/tacky it was the better!!! and then the rest of the evening you were known by your grandmothers name, so we rocked with the likes of nancy, myrna, elizabeth, peggy and many others. the organizer decided the pubs of choice...the first one being a really bad peeler bar called the dancing bare...friggin funny, the juxtaposition of scantly clad women and badly dressed dykes was a screamm..after that there were four more dives of choice...each getting worse ...and then there is the whole american beer to keep ya moving..

saturday was tour the city...sunshine was about so it was a perfect day for a waterfront walk and then off the 'saturday market" for eats, music and discovery. it is an old city like seattle...flanked by mt st helens and mt hood, very pretty indeed...kits type area called 23rd ave, great feel. local hang area called "alberta" was funny for me...more like commercial...funky shops, eclectic crowd...when you are there, there are bumper stickers on cars that say" keep Oregon weird" - TRUE...and then, there is this thing that happened...and underground thing where people dress up like santa...eleves or ms santa, nasty dirty santas, hot elves , skinny santa, fat santa, etc and descend on the city downtown core...so there were over 300 people dressed this way...apparently they text each other and somehow get it all together...and then the gig is they do their xmas shopping dressed that way!!!! it was so fun!

sunday had brunch with three of portland finest (an hottest) chick fire fighters! it was great to be in their energy and listen to their stories. and the Tin Shed restaurant has fab food - way to go christie and jeanette; you have a winning formula there.

portland; a city of colour and great people.

worth a listen, not for the faint of heart

"A Comet Appears"

One hand on this wily comet,
Take a drink just to give me some weight,
Some uber-man I'd make,
I'm barely a vapor

They shone a chlorine light on,
A host of individual sins,
Let's carve my aging face off,
Fetch us a knife,
Start with my eyes,
Down so the lines,
Form a grimacing smile,

Close your eyes to corral a virtue,
Is this fooling anyone else?
Never worked so long and hard,
To cement a failure,

We can blow on our thumbs and posture,
But the lonely is such delicate things,
The wind from a wasp could blow them,
Into the sea,
With stones on their feet,
Lost to the light and the loving we need,

Still to come,
The worst part and you know it,
There is a numbness,
In your heart and it's growing,

With burnt sage and a forest of bygones,
I click my heels,
Get the devils in line,
A list of things I could lay the blame on,
Might give me a way out,

But with each turn,
It's this front and center,
Like a dart stuck square in your eye,
Every post you can hitch your faith on,
Is a pie in the sky,
Chock full of lies,
A tool we devise,
To make sinking stones fly,

And still to come,
The worst part and you know it,
There is a numbness,
In your heart and it's growing.

dogs get snow

dogs get snow. they embrace the change, the new landscape and indulge themselves in the glory of it all. they frolic, never mind the old rules, lets make new rules. lets see and taste and feel like never before. lets touch the moment and let the moment touch us...better yet...lets eat it up.

i love it when it snows...it makes me stop and see things in a different light. with different feelings;different expectations...

i think i am a dog too.
