emilie in snow

the snows covers the world as we know it…dropped like a paint can knocked over.
blanketed for our interpretations, it presents a world clean and unspoiled.
“i feel like a dryer sheet” emilie says “bouncing around touching things yet my purpose is to keep things from connecting. like the wrong end of magnets, pushing against unseen forces.”

we walk through the snow and the footprints resonate a crunch that we feel more than hear.

in tandem our steps become collective in the change as our weight alters what is beneath us...kicking softly the virgin white cloth of frozen water.

i feel a sense of unknown that is unsettling…the hands on time hold me in a place i wish i wasn’t.

emilie exhales and we stop to admire all that surrounds us. images covered..we stand still.she speaks softly "i wish i could control the snow…have the ability to change the landscape at a moments notice…and all that wear it. switch the painting of current experience…moving the emotion with the quick change of the picture.”

no questions today thus no need for deeper thoughts. we walk amongst the new images of what contains us via our physical world. we are forever altered.

i am navigating a new identity through what is outside of me. blinded and pure i seek to be held in the moment.to really feel all the changes within me.the truth lies captive in a cloak of what has been. the cloth itches and causes me to scratch for relief.

i let the snow fall on my face and it lands upon my eyelids. bestowed; i see much more now than I ever did...and the sight jolts me...

emilie reaches for my hand, and i allow it...the comfort of touch reminds me that all heals , all is made new if you pinpoint the inner sweet spot of your heart…after all it is a regenerative and forgiving beat…

a funny thing happened on the way to....

okay, so snow can bring out the creative side in all of us. from snow angels to snow people and even snow dogs. but this image i just had to share...
impaled snow people, complete with blood letting and then the ever so popular snow person hanging...a real crowd pleaser!
backed up to this was a very well built snow fort complete with seating for five.

had to stop and take all of the hard work in...then think to myself...whos kids are these and what do they do come all hallows eve?

bath bomb hazards

so last night i prep a bath, figure id relax with a wee bit of tingling bath bomb fun. i drop in a lil globe of exploding scents only to watch it start to fizzle and fill the tub with thousands of lil flakes of blue glitter! now ...perplxed , i sit in the tub contemplating why some float and some don't (remembering a similar conversation involving fun tumblers and mind additives, thats another story).

i have a bag of more goodies from lush that my friend dw gave me when he worked there...note to self, label them....

today i am still finding lil flakes on my body! man those things stick...

river road sightings

last night on my way home i almost drove off the road several times! the moon was hypnotic in its yellow state. it cast a brilliant stream of light down the mighty fraser river and the tree tops were illuminated.

spooky yet beautiful. interesting back drop to a world wide financial crisis looming.

the night was still, i listened for sounds and i watched the trees for any sign of movement...like a werewolf...change can be so unpredictable.

river road sightings

this is yet another interesting sight that caught my eye..this time west going east. there are a few pullouts that sit on the river's edge. many a day i see vehicles parked there...early morning to late at at night. i have even seen, on more then one occasion, a man who has a camp fire there. in the summer there were RV's parked and a car where it seems someone was actually living out of it. i would see him in the morning, towel draped over his shoulder, fixated on the scene of calm river waters before him, tooth brush moving with purpose, hand on his hip, stoic.

today, well, the picture tells the story on why i had to take it. i am perplexed on this one...perhaps an old fashioned game of musical chairs?

i will look in the morning for further clues to this random placement of an everyday item.

ryan adams - wonderwall

a haunting version of this great song, turn it up

Today is gonna be the day
That they're gonna throw it back to you
By now you should've somehow
Realized what you gotta do
I don't believe that anybody
Feels the way I do about you now

Backbeat the word was on the street
That the fire in your heart is out
I'm sure you've heard it all before
But you never really had a doubt
I don't believe that anybody feels
The way I do about you now

And all the roads we have to walk along are winding
And all the lights that lead us there are blinding
There are many things that I would
Like to say to you
I don't know how

Because maybe
You're gonna be the one who saves me ?
And after all
You're my wonderwall

Today was gonna be the day?
But they'll never throw it back to you
By now you should've somehow
Realized what you're not to do
I don't believe that anybody
Feels the way I do
About you now

And all the roads that lead to you were winding
And all the lights that light the way are blinding
There are many things that I would like to say to you
I don't know how

I said maybe
You're gonna be the one who saves me ?
And after all
You're my wonderwall

I said maybe
You're gonna be the one who saves me ?
And after an
You're my wonderwall

Said maybe
You're gonna be the one that saves me
You're gonna be the one that saves me
You're gonna be the one that saves me

mt baker - we ride!

well another spectacular day on the hill! after a late start, i had the pleasure of watching CF fall down the mountain on her first day ever snow boarding! she is so competitive and wouldn't let the hill beat her! today however, i think she may have to cave a little and say the hill did have one over her yesterday- she told me " i am aware of every part of my body today" ! there is such thing as good pain ..right CF?

what is so fun about snowboarding is that it gives you permission to roll around on the ground...how often does that occur in your adult life?

Woman successfully sues drug dealer
Chris Purdy, The StarPhoenix
Published: Tuesday, January 08, 2008
A woman who overdosed on crystal methamphetamine in rural Saskatchewan has successfully sued the man who gave her the drug, likely making it the first court win of its kind in the country. "It was frustrating not having anything done through the criminal system," said 23-year-old Sandy Bergen, who has been drug- and alcohol-free since the incident in her hometown of Biggar in 2004.
"Financially, I'm not really going to gain from it. But it's a way of holding him responsible." Bergen and her parents, Stan and Georgina, launched the negligence suit against Clinton Davey in 2005, asking for more than $50,000 in medical costs and other damages. Bergen suffered a heart attack during the overdose and spent 11 days in a coma. Now living in Saskatoon, she does public speaking events at high schools about the dangers of crystal meth.Last Friday, a Court of Queen's Bench Judge in Saskatoon agreed to strike Davey's statement of defence in the case, which basically finds him in default. A hearing will now be scheduled to determine what amount the court will award.Bergen learned about the win Monday from her lawyer.
"It means we've effectively won. We proceed as if we were never opposed," said Bergen's lawyer, Stuart Busse. Busse says he could not find another such decision in his research. "To my knowledge, it's the first case that's gone anywhere against a drug dealer," he said. Busse asked the court to strike Davey's statement of defence and find him in contempt of court for not answering questions about where he got his drugs. The unknown drug supplier, John Doe, was also named as a defendant in the lawsuit. In court documents, Davey said he could not remember the name of his drug supplier, although he could recall other details about the night of Bergen's overdose. Busse said he believes Davey received threats, so he was likely fearing for his safety when he refused to answer questions about his drug supplier.
"As a general rule, you don't rat," said Busse. Davey did admit he gave Bergen crystal meth -- but said the cash she gave him was for cigarettes, not the drug.
Bergen said that's not the case. She gave him $40 for the meth even though the cost was $30. Already suffering from the sweats and hand pain of a heart attack, she was feeling too ill to demand the change. An addict since 18, Bergen said she hadn't smoked meth for about eight months when Davey offered her the drug that night. She was weak and upset about having to testify in an upcoming sexual assault trial.
Davey's grandmother, Dalis Davey, was also named in the civil suit because the overdose happened in her home. But Busse said he's considering dropping her as a defendant. He said if the drug supplier is identified in the future, he can still be held liable. Davey, with no current address, may not have much money, said Busse. But his assets can be seized. "The point is he caused this problem, and he should have to pay," Busse said. Bergen said she doesn't expect much money but hopes to get enough to cover her legal expenses.

river road sightings

one of fav things to see as i take the liesurly drive east on river road is the tugboats. these tiny mighty's are great to watch as they tug down the river. sometimes they are there escorting log booms with men jumping from place to place to check the security of the lines. other times the tugs are working at pushing or straightening the floating currency of wood mills.

i think about mental tugboats; sometimes we all need a little push to get our thoughts straighten out. my tugboat came along around mid dec. i am much clearer in my needs and heading fast forward.... finally.
